At the Crowned In Resilience Collective and Foundation, we offer transformative, trauma-informed programs that center youth voices, promote healing, and build leadership skills. Each of our initiatives is designed to empower Black and Brown youth to overcome adversity, embrace their leadership potential, and drive change in their communities.
This free, community-based summer camp provides social-emotional learning, leadership development, and enrichment opportunities for youth ages 6–13. Campers participate in cultural experiences, field trips, wellness activities, and peer-led team building exercises. The camp creates a joyful, affirming environment where children can grow, heal, and build lifelong friendships.
Our Community Healing Garden is a sacred, restorative space where youth and families can connect with nature, process grief, and cultivate community pride. It serves as both a healing hub and a learning environment where young people engage in hands-on gardening, mindfulness, and community beautification projects.
Our year-round Youth Leadership Academy trains young people in public speaking, advocacy, civic engagement, and community organizing. Participants learn how to present legislative proposals, speak at city council hearings, and lead grassroots initiatives that address systemic inequities. The Academy builds confidence, resilience, and a deep understanding of how to effect real policy change.
This targeted small group supports Black male youth through mentorship, emotional wellness sessions, and relationship-building activities. Led by Minister Diallo L. Arnett, the Iron Men Circle provides a culturally safe space where boys and young men can explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and build strong, positive male connections.
The Diamonds of DC initiative is dedicated to empowering girls of color through leadership development, college exposure, and life skills training. Participants build self-confidence, explore higher education pathways, and cultivate sisterhood through shared learning experiences and peer mentorship.
Each fall, we host a two-day wellness retreat where urban youth can step away from high-stress environments and immerse themselves in peaceful, nature-based healing experiences. The retreat includes mindfulness exercises, team-building, outdoor exploration, and guided reflections to promote self-care, leadership, and community bonding.
We provide youth with direct exposure to higher education through regional and national college tours. Participants meet college leaders, visit campuses, and explore academic opportunities. Additionally, our Youth Advocacy Summits offer hands-on training in grassroots organizing and public policy, culminating in a Day at the DC Council where youth present legislative proposals to city leaders.
